The Unearthing of the Grotto

I pulled all of the English Ivy off of the old stone fireplace this morning. I found a lot of metal bits and bobs down in the really rich and wonderful soil under a ton of oak leaves. This one is my favorite.

A lot of the rocks in the structure are loose and one fell out when I was pulling the Ivy loose so I need to get some cement and fix everything but I think it’s lovely and I’m going to plant some flowers there after I shore it up. I think that will keep my spirits up while I am working on larger more complicated projects around the place. I may even pick up a box of red body clay so I can sculpt my troubled saint while I’m waiting to start work on the house. I’m not a very patient person so it helps me to have a project to occupy my mind and hands.
